Govt to provide aid to madarsas for modernisation
Chandigarh, June 23 (UNI) In order to provide basic educational infrastructure and facilities to the backward sections among the minorities, the Punjab Government has decided to provide financial assistance for the modernisation of madarsas being run in the state.
A spokesman of the Department of Education here today said that under the centrally sponsored scheme, state government would launch area incentive programme for educationally backward minorities and provide financial assitance for modernisation of madarsas.
The object of the scheme was that madarsas volunteering to teach modern subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English, Hindi etc to their students alongwith their traditional subjects, could be assisted to provide basic educational infrastructure which did not have adequate provision for elementary and secondary education.
Elaborating the scheme, he said that those voluntary organizations, societies, trusts or voluntary agencies, registered under central or state Government Acts or Wakf Boards, would be elegible to apply for this assistance.
