Five lakh power connections to be provided during the year

Thiruvananthapuram, June 23 (UNI) Kerala Finanance Minister T M Thomas Isaac today said five lakh electricity connections would be given in the state during the current financial year.

Presenting the revised budget for 2006-07 in the State Assembly, he said people below the poverty line would be given the connection free of cost.

He said 143 MW power would be generated additionally with the commissioning of five power projects and upgradation of two during the year.
