Fish angler's lodge coming up at Gulmarg
Srinagar, June 23 (UNI) A fish angler's lodge is coming up at Gulmarg to promote fishing sports at the world famous tourist resort.
Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Abdul Aziz Zargar, during his inspection of angler's recreation park at Gulmarg, announced Rs 15 lakh for construction of the lodge.
The step has been taken to promote fishing sports in Gulmarg in a big way.
The park is spread over 30 kanals (1.5 hectares) of land and work on the angler's lodge would be taken up during the current year.
The Minister was informed that visitors were charged Rs 200 for fish angling permits against which four fish could be caught.
The activity would help generate revenue besides providing recreation to the visitors.
Mr Zargar also visited a fish rearing centre at Tangmarg where fresh trout wer put up on sale from April to November every year.
Fish worth Rs 2 lakh were sold at the centre every year.
The Minister said 30 more carp fish ponds would be set up in the Baramulla district during the current fiscal against 15 fish ponds set up last year under the Prime Minister's economic package.
Each beneficiary was provided an amont of Rs 1.20 lakh on 100 percentage subsidy under the programme.
Mr Zargar impressed upon the officers concerned to educate more and more people about benefits of pisciculture as a viable economic activity.
