Chennai, June 23 (UNI) The Consortium of Professional, Arts and Science colleges in Tamil Nadu and the State Government today arrived at a consensus before Madras High Court, over admission of students under management quota in Self Financing Professional Colleges.

When the petition filed by the Consortium, challenging the order of the Justice S S Subramani Committee, directing self financing professional colleges to follow the Single Window System and rule of reservation to admit students in the management quota, came up before Mr Justice K Raviraja Pandian, the consortium filed an undertaking with reference to a letter dated June 23.

It said 'All members of the Consortium undertake to surrender voluntarily 65 per cent of sanctioned seats in case of non-minority institutions and 50 per cent in minority institutions for allotment by the government for admission of students to UG programme in engineering discipline for the academic year 2006-07. The remaining seats will be allotted under management quota by ourselves'.

Advocate General R Viduthalai said in principle, he agreed to the Consortium's suggestion and gave an undertaking that the order of the Subramani Committee would not be given effect to this academic year.

Following this, the judge directed both parties to file affidavits and posted the matter for further hearing to June 26.
