CM wants close monitoring of projects

Hyderabad, June 23 (UNI) Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today called upon officials to closely monitor various projects taken up under the 'Indiramma' scheme and take fool-proof measures for successful implementation of the programme.

He was reviewing schemes like housing, pension, rural water supply, health care, Self Helf Groups, Anganwadi centres, drinking water and sanitation in schools, under 'INDIRAMMA' programme along with the AP Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, with officials here.

The officials said pension for 8,98,891 people in rural and urban areas had been sanctioned and distribution began on May 7. In all pension had been disbursed to 8,95,478 people in June.

On the housing programme, Dr Reddy wanted land acquisition for house sites to be completed by this month end.

On primary education, officials said 11,083 additional classrooms were being constructed. Around 16.332 toilet units were being built in primary schools besides drinking water in 8,999 schools.

On Anganwadis, a proposal to construct 10,890 new centres at a cost of Rs 224 crore had been sent to NABARD. In all 3,614 Anganwadis were being provided toilets and 7,891 centres with drinking water.

While reviewing healthcare, Dr Reddy was told 9,409 awareness campaigns had been conducted against prevention of water and vector borne diseases and nearly 84 per cent birth registrations completed.

The Chief Minister appreciated officials for the good response for AP Rural Employment Guarantee Programme from Anantapur and Adilabad districts with 1,94,000 workers employed in Anantapur and 90,872 in Adilabad. In all 39,54,522 job cards were issued.
