Chief of Air Staff visits BEL in Bangalore

Bangalore, June 23 (UNI) Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal S P Tyagi today visited Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) here to review the ongoing Air Force projects at the defence public sector major.

BEL supplied a range of state-of-the-art equipment to the Indian Air Force, including Surveillance and Tracking Radars, Communication Equipment and Systems, IFF and Electronic Warfare Systems. It also supplied components such as Transmitting Tubes and Microwave Tubes to the Air Force.

The Chief of Air Staff visited the Radar division and saw the short range Flycatcher Radar and medium range Battlefield Surveillance Radars, a portable ground-based radar for surveillance of the battlefield, developed indigenously by the city-based LRDE and manufactured by BEL, an official release here said.

Air Chief Marshal Tyagi said ''IAF and BEL are old partners. BEL is known for its technological capabilities and world-class quality products and we appreciate its support to the Indian Air Force. This partnership is bound to grow in the future.'' In Military Communication Division, the Air Chief Marshal witnessed the Radar Warning Receiver, used aboard fighter aircraft.

He visited the Telecom and Broadcast Systems Division and Solar Cell manufacturing facility. He also paid a visit to the Central Research Laboratory at BEL, engaged in developing enabling technologies in the areas of interest to BEL, the release added.
