BJP leaders discharged in constable murder case of 1985 riots
Ahmedabad, June 23 (UNI) The Gujarat High Court today discharged senior BJP leaders -- former Union Minister Harin Pathak and Gujarat Law Minister Ashok Bhatt -- in the case of leading a violent mob which killed a police constable during the communal riots in Khadia area of the city in 1985.
High Court Justice J R Vora upheld the discharged petitions filed by the two BJP leaders.
The duo, had been charged with having played a role in instigating the crowd to kill constable Lakshman Desai in Khadia area, which was a part of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies of Mr Bhatt and Mr Pathak, respectively, of the walled city in 1985.
The deceased's wife had filed the petition against the BJP Ministers in Gujarat HC.
