Bharat shah deposes before MCOCA court

Mumbai, June 23 (UNI) Diamond merchant Bharat Shah today told the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court, that he had received threatening calls on his phone of extortion and murder from Chhota Rajan during 2004.

Shah, appearing as a witness in this case, was deposing before the MCOCA judge M R Bhatkar, in a case registered during November 2004 against the Chhota Rajan Gang, who allegedly planned to murder him.

Police, on a tip off, had foiled the alleged attempt by the gangsters to eliminate Shah and arrested five persons in this connection. Police also recovered the photograph of Shah and his vehicle numbers from the arrested persons besides weapons.

In all, eight persons have so far been examined in this case by the court.
