Agitation over traders's killing

Varanasi, June 23 (UNI) Traders in Harha Sarai and Lallapura areas here today downed shutters to protest the last night killing of a shoe trader in Lehengpura.

Demanding arrest of criminals, who shot dead Istiaq Ahmad (50), the traders staged a demonstration and threatened to intensify their protest if the culprits were not nabbed soon.

Ahmad was shot under Sigra police station area here late last night, while returning home after closing his establishment.

Agitated over the killing, local residents also indulged in violence outside Lallapura police outpost.

Meanwhile, police suspect the killing to be the fallout of a long standing property dispute.

Investigations were on.
