Perspiring conditions prevail for second day
New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) Bright sunlight, coupled with with high humidity of nearly 50 per cent, today led to perspiring conditions in the capital for the second consecutive day.
The sunlight, interspersed with cloudy intervals, kept the mercury at yesterday's level of 39 degrees Celsius.
A cloud cover which enveloped the skyline for a brief while in the morning, however brought down the minimum temperature to 26.4 degree C, four degrees below normal.
The sultry weather since yesterday follows a coolness in the air on Monday evening and Tuesday, brought about by a heavy overcast sky and rains. The thick clouds led to a sharp drop in mercury to 37.1 degree Celsius on Tuesday, about two degrees below normal.
The coming days could see a further rise in maximum temperature although light showers are expected in some areas tonight or tomorrow.
The weather office have forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rains and thundershowers, accompanied by squall, in the capital during the next 24 hours.
The maximum temperature tomorrow is expected to rise to 40 degrees Celsius, they said.
