NCW: SC permits armyman's wife to withdraw petition
New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) The Supreme Court today permitted Sunita Singh, estranged wife of an armyman, to withdraw her writ petition seeking a CBI inquiry into her allegations that National Commission for Women (NCW) member Yasmin Abrar was running a sex racket for leading politicians and the rich.
Sunita, who hails from Pithora Garh, Uttaranchal, in her petition has alleged that she was forced by Abrar to have sex with Ahmed Patel, MP and Political Secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Meerut MP Shahid Akhlaq against her will.
Sunita was arrested from Jammu by Delhi Police on March 21 for kidnapping a minor girl Rukhsar on the complaint filed by Raj Kumar Jain, personal secretary to Abrar.
She was granted bail by Delhi high court on May 1.
According to the petitioner, she was lured by Abrar by promising a lucrative job for her when Sunita approached NCW for action against her husband.
Sunita and Rukhsar reportedly escaped from NCW member's clutches on March 12 and both left for Jammu. According to the petitioner when she was passing through Paharganj on May 5 she was shown a bottle of acid by someone and was allegedly told that she should go back to Abrar and act according to her wishes or else she would be burnt down to ashes by acid and her life was under threat.
The petitioner has also alleged that a big sex racket was being run by statutory body like NCW with the help of protected homes like 'Snehalaya' and others being run by NGOs. According to the allegations made in the petition, Sunita was taken to various places under threat and pressure like Jaipur and Sainik farms in Delhi and was allegedly raped there by the politicians.
In Jaipur, sister of Abrar is running a school.
A vacation bench comprising Justices A R Lakshmanan and Altamas Kabir dismissed as withdrawn the petition following a request made by petitioner's counsel Jasbir Malik saying in view of 'changed circumstances' the petitioner wanted to withdraw her petition which had already been numbered by the court registry.
The court allowing the request of the petitioner noted," the counsel for the petitioner states that the investigation of the case has been transferred to another investigating agency and in view of the changed circumstances she does not want to persue her petition and seeks permission to withdraw the same. The permission is granted and the petition is accordingly dismissed as withdrawn." UNI AKS/SC RP RS1722
