Australian Kylie Minogue to resume tour after cancer

MELBOURNE, June 22 (Reuters) Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, diagnosed with breast cancer last year, will begin her postponed Australian Showgirl Tour in November, her touring company said today.

''I spent the weekend with Kylie. She's looking great. She's definitely through the worst of everything,'' Australian concert promoter and long-time friend Michael Gudinski told reporters.

''Obviously she has still got a few mountains to climb, but we are very very confident that the tour will be going ahead in November,'' he said.

No decision had been made about further international tour dates.

Minogue, 38, a former teenage soap opera actress turned international singing star, had been due to start her Australian tour in May last year before performances in Asia and a headlining act at Glastonbury, Europe's biggest music festival.

It was postponed while Minogue underwent breast cancer surgery in Melbourne and a course of chemotherapy in Paris, where her French actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez has a home.

Gudinski said the tour, renamed the Showgirl Homecoming Tour, would be spread out over a slightly longer time to make it easier on Minogue.

''She is still getting tired on the odd day, but she looked as fit as a fiddle,'' Gudinski said.

He said Minogue was working on some new songs.

''You can't keep Kylie down. She's actually recording in the studio and working on songs as we speak,'' he said.
