MCOCA court remands LeT operative to further custody
Mumbai, June 21 (UNI) The Special MCOCA court today remanded in judicial custody till July four, eleven suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (Let) activists who had been arrested by the anti terrorist squad in connection with the seizure of large quantity of arms and ammunition from Aurangabad last month.
MCOCA judge Mridula Bhatkar, however, extended the police custody till July four to three others arrested by the ATS in the same case.
The ATS, in a joint operation with the Aurangabad police on May nine, had arrested one Mohd Amir Shakil Ahmed and the next day nabbed two other terrorists including an activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) from near the Ghrushneshwar temple at Verul village and seized arms and ammunition from them.
On the basis of the information collected from the trio, ATS arrested ten more persons from Aurangabad and seized 16 AK-47, 43 kg RDX, 4000 ammunition rounds and 50 hand grenades.
The total number of arrests in this case had gone upto 14 with suspected LeT operative Afroz Khan surrendering before the court on June 13. Khan was allegedly involved in the conspiracy to transport explosives.
