Man who blew himself up to settle scores used TNT: UP Police

Lucknow, June 21 (UNI) Confirming that a bus driver who blew himself and a brick kiln owner up a couple of months ago to settle a personal score had used the powerful TNT explosive, the UP police are trying to find out how a common man could manage to get the high grade explosive.

Police sources quoting a report from Agra-based Central Forensic Lab said Ram Sanehi -- the first ever reported human bomb from UP -- had used Tri Nitro Toluence (TNT) to trigger a blast at Biswan (Sitapur district) on April 25.

A bus driver working on daily wages, Ram Sanehi reportedly killed S C Gupta after he refused to get him a permanent job with the State Roadways even after taking Rs one lakh for the purpose.

Police officials investigating the case said the accused had visited Nepal a few days before carrying out the attack, and claimed Ram Sanehi probably managed the explosive from the Himalayan Kingdom. However, whether he paid Maoist rebels for the explosive was yet to be ascertained.

Ram Sanehi had used a wire circuit to trigger the explosive by attaching it to a six volt battery. Police said battery and wirings could be procured locally, but getting TNT so easily was not possible.

On April 25, the accused reached Gupta's brick kiln with his wife Suman. After a verbal duel, he triggered the bomb attached to his body. Gupta, Suma, Ram Sanehi and Jaikeshan -- a labour from Chattisgarh working at the kiln -- were killed in the blast.
