Karnataka Assembly witnesses noisy scenes
Bangalore, June 21 (UNI) The Karnataka Legislative Assembly today witnessed noisy scenes following certain remarks made by Janata Dal (United) leader J C Madhuswamy against a senior member of the House in connection with the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for ten minutes.
Making a preliminary submission with regard to an adjournment motion notice on the issue, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader G V Srirama Reddy referred to an interview of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises Managing Director Ashok Kheny in a local magazine in which he had mentioned former Minister R V Deshpande. When Mr Deshpande gave an explanation, Mr Madhuswamy made certain remarks, resulting in noisy scenes.
Speaker Krishna adjourned the House for ten minutes amidst noisy scenes. A Congress member even advanced menacingly towards Mr Madhuswamy, but was prevented by the other members.
When the House re-assembled, the Congress members demanded an unconditional apology from the JD(U) leader, which he did promptly.
The Speaker ordered to expunge the remarks made by Mr Madhuswamy and appealed to the members to maintain parliamentary decorum and not to get provoked.
