IUML demands enquiry into encounter at RSS HQs in Nagpur
New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has demanded a judicial enquiry, by a retired Supreme Court judge, into the alleged encounter at RSS headquarters in Nagpur on June 1.
It has also demanded a CBI enquiry into the powerful bomb blast in a house in Nanded, Maharastra on April 6.
In a letter written to Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Maharastra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, the president of the IUML G M Banatwalla submitted that an official fact finding committee, comprising of 15 human rights activists and headed by the former judge of the Mumbai high court, Justice Kolse Patil, had raised several questions and serious dounts on the genuineness of the encounter at the RSS HQs.
''It is in public interest that the truth be revealed. The nation has a right to know the factual position on such a sensitive issue,''Mr Banatwalla said.
''It is a matter of grave concern that the alleged terrorists could reach their target with deadly weapons smuggled into the country. This speaks volumes about thue inefficiency or the complicity of the responsible officers and authorities,''he said.
Regarding the Nanded blast, he said,''I have submitted that in view of the earlier attacks on mosques in Parbhani, Jalna, Purnea and other places in the Marathwada region of Maharastra, a thorough CBI enquiry can reveal many grim realities. The serious dimensions of the Nanded bomb blast and a lackadaisical investigation all demand a thorough CBI enquiry.'' UNI AR VD VV1932
