Fish found dead, activists protest
Kolhapur, June 20 (UNI) Environment activists today registered a strong protest over the unhygienic condition of the waters of the Rankala Lake after a large number of fish were found dead in it.
The activists, led by Uday Gaikwad, met District Collector Pravin Darade and submitted a memorandum alleging that it was due to negligence of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) that the lake was unclean, causing the death of the fishes.
Earlier, the activists also put dead fish, collected from the lake, on the table of MPCB officials here.
They found that a large number of fishes were lying dead in the water near famous Raj-Ghat section.
