HP launches cost-effective c-series of blade servers
New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) Targetting to grow at twice the market rate Hewlett-Packard, a global technology solution provider, today launched HP BladeSystem c-Class that can reduce both operational and capital expenditure costs by 46 per cent in a typical data centre implementations.
''Our c-Class blade technology is going to be the trend-setting for the second generation servers,'' HP India Pvt Ltd Director (Enterprise Marketing and Alliance-TSG) Pallab Talukdar said.
While HP is ahead of IBM, the closest competitor, in terms of number of consumers, the latter is ahead in terms of number of units sold in India, he added.
Mr Talukdar pointed out that the market share of HP was 30 per cent during Q1 of 2006-07.
The c-Class blade technology which he said took three years to develop, saves energy, has an improved cooling system and helps customers move towards automated, better technologies that lower the cost of IT operations and deliver higher quality of services.
Asked about the future of p-Series blade servers, Mr Talukdar said HP will not shut down the production of the p-Series servers till 2012 as it had got good response from the consumers.
Over a three-year period, an average enterprise data centre can realise system acquisition cost savings of up to 41 per cent, data centre facilities cost savings of up to 60 per cent and initial system setup time cost savings of up to 96 per cent, said HP's Country Manager (ISS) Rajesh Dhar speaking on c-series of blade technology.
On the marketing strategy, he said looking at the growing demand from small cities, HP has planned to strengthen its sales teams by enabling them to go out and sell blade servers.
