Ahmedabad, June 20 (UNI) The police today questioned over half-a-dozen prominent citizens attached to Swadhyay Parivar, a noted socio-spiritual organisation of Gujarat, in connection with the murder of US-based Non-Resident Indian businessman Pankaj Trivedi.

Mr Trivedi (52) was brutally attacked and beaten to death by four unidentified persons outside Ellisbridge Gymkhana club in the posh Ellisbridge locality here on the night of June 15.

Ellibridge police station Inspector N K Rathod told UNI that today they questioned 8 prominent citizens of the city for their association with the ''power politics of the Swadhyay Parivar'', which is believed to be involved in the killing of Mr Trivedi.

Mr Rathod said that during the questioning, these people claimed that they were innocent and their names were being allegedly tossed up by the rival groups with a clear intention just to harass and defame them.

''So far, nobody has been detained or arrested in connection with the murder of Mr Trivedi, but more peole are likely to be questioned in the next few days,'' he said.
