BSF, SRTC in semi-finals of Police Martyrs Football

Srinagar, June 20 (UNI) Defending champions BSF Jalandhar will clash with State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) while Jammu and Kashmir Bank will fight it out against Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the semi-finals of the ninth Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament being played here.

In the first quarterfinal played at the Bakshi stadium here today, SRTC defeated SSB, the winner of the championship in 2004, by one goal to nil.

Rafiq Dar scored the lone goal for the winners in the 70th minute of the second half of the game.

In the second quarterfinal, BSF Jalandhar trounced Iqbal Club by six goals to nil. J Joseph (3), Kamal Kishore (2) and T S Bagh Singh (one) scored for the defending champions.

The scoreboard read 3-0 at the half-time.

CRPF Delhi and the last year's runner-up Jammu and Kashmir Bank have already entered the semi-finals.

While CRPF defeated Jammu and Kashmir Police, Jammu and Kashmir Bank beat Jehangir Club. Both the teams won by one goal each.

The first semi-final will be played between Jammu and Kashmir Bank and CRPF tomorrow while BSF Jalandhar will clash with SRTC in the second semi-final on June 22.
