Seat sharing talks remain inconclusive
Hyderabad, June 19 : Talks over seat sharing among the ruling Congress and its allies as also the opposition TDP and the CPI(M) remained inconclusive today as they resorted to a tough bargain with only two days left for withdrawal of nominations.
Talking to UNI here today, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and State Secretary B V Raghavulu said his party had forged an understanding with the TDP for about 80 ZPTC seats in eight districts, including Khammam and Nalgonda.
The talks were in the crucial stage in the other districts and clarity would emerge only in the next couple of days, he added.
Expressing confidence that the CPI(M) would be able to reach an understanding well in time, Mr Raghavulu said ''We have asked our people to file nominations in more than 250 ZPTC seats and we will contest alone, wherever electoral adjustments are not possible''.
The Congress, which had almost reached an understanding with the TRS, was faced with the problem of rebels, with over 1,300 partymen entering the fray in 1097 constituencies, including even those seats the party was likely to allot to its allies.
State Party Chief K Keshava Rao was holding discussions with leaders of various districts to sort out all issues, party spokesman Thulasi Reddy said. The fledgling TRS with about ten legislators raising the banner of revolt, was also faced with the problem of dissidence.
