Guj Police declares Rs 1-lakh reward in NRI businessman murder case

Ahmedabad, June 19 (UNI) Gujarat police today declared cash reward of Rs one lakh to any person providing clue in the murder of US-based Non-Resident Indian (NRI) businessman.

Pankaj Trivedi was brutally attacked and beaten to death by four unidentified people outside Ellisbridge Gymkhana club in here on June 15.

City police commissioner K R Kaushik in a statement has said the identity of the informer would be kept secret.

It was largely believed that Trivedi was murdered because of his assocation with socio-spiritual organisation -- Swadhyay Parivar.

He was murdered at night when he come out from the Club as four goons, who were waiting for him in a Maruti car, attacked him with baseball bats and sticks.

The businessman was staying in a bungalow at Satyagrah Chhavni Society in Satellite locality of the city, while his wife and two sons were in Cincinnati, USA.

Trivedi had migrated to the US nine years ago, but had returned here last year.

Incidentally, Trivedi was arrested by Rajkot police along with some other people around Diwali festival last year after a scuffle between two groups of the Swadhyay Parivar.
