Bangalore, June 18 (UNI) Former Kerala High Court Chief Justice Rama Jois today appealed to the religious heads in the country to come forward and form a central unit to uphold 'Dharma'.

Alleging that efforts were being made to divide the Hindu society, he said it was the duty of one and all to protect the Hindu society and religious heads should take the lead in spreading 'Dharma' which had no caste or creed.

Speaking at the 'Peetarohana Shatabdi' of Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamiji of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam here, Mr Justice Jois said ''Chandrasekharendra Swamji has said Dharma is an universal way of life and it does not belong to any one particular caste. Now it is named Hindu, but actually it is 'Sanathan' which means no end. Dharma shows the way to all the people in the world to live like a human being. If we give up practising Dharma, it will lead to disaster.'' He alleged that casteism had been utilised for political gains.

In the present political system, caste had become instrumental for coming to power.

Kanchi mutt senior pontiff Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, who also spoke, said the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam proposed to establish 100 Veda Teaching Centres to mark the occasion and four such centres had been set up in Lucknow, Ayodhya, Honnavara in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Udupi Pejawar Mutt seer Visweshwa Theertha Swamiji, Sachidananda Swamiji of Avadootha Datta Peetam, Mysore, Gangadharenda Maha Desikendra Swamiji of Ashithanga Yoga Vignana Mandiram and Gangadharenda Saraswathi Swamiji of Swarnahalli Samasthana, Sirsi, participated in the function.
