CISF to study 'MATRA', other security systems at Manchester meet
New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) In a bid to upgrade its security skills in manning airports, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will study the Multi Agency Threat and Risk Management (MATRA) system, along with others, during its 10-day stay at Manchester in United Kingdom.
The six-member CISF team, which leaves for UK tomorrow to participate in a bilateral seminar on aviation security, will also apprise itself with the latest state-of-the-art systems adopted for airport security around the world.
The seminar, to be held between June 20-29, would focus on Multi Agency Threat and Risk Management (MATRA) along with Biometric Access Control System and contingency plans for emergency procedures, latest electronic gadgets and standardised systems used in aviation security.
The thrust would be mainly on the 'MATRA' system as this was more suitable in the Indian context where coordination between several agencies were involved in overlooking security at airports, said the CISF spokesman here.
The move was to make CISF the torch-bearer in making airports in India safe and secure, he added.
The team, led by CISF Director General SIS Ahmed, would also study security measures adopted at Heathrow Airport, considered to be one of the busiest airports in the world.
