Fresh spell of rain in Delhi, mercury drops to 18 degree celcius

New Delhi, June 17 (UNI) A fresh spell of rainfall hit the capital early this morning leading to a drop in mercury by four degree celcius and bringing about a sudden coolness in the weather.

The rain, which began early this morning, led to the minimum temperature dropping from 22 degree celcius to 18 degree celcius.

About 13.6 mm of rain was recorded till 0830 hrs, the weather office said.

The rain and the consequent drop in mercury is a welcome relief from the heat wave of the previous week. Delhi could witness more rainfall during the day with the weathermen predicting a generally cloudy sky with rain and thunder showers accompanied by squall during the next 24 hours.
