Tributes paid to Delhi's 1st CM on his 88th birth anniversary
New Delhi, Jun 16 (UNI) Tributes were today paid to veteran freedom fighter and first Chief Minister of Delhi Brahm Prakash on the occasion of his 88th birth anniversary.
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Speaker Prem Singh and various MLAs paid floral tributes at his statue at the Old Secretariat here.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Singh said Delhi government was now making efforts to do what Mr Brahm Prakash, who was also known as 'Lion of Delhi', had visualised 50 years ago--making the national capital along with the neighbouring towns into one world class Mega city.
Mr Brahm Prakash also worked for the development of villages, upliftment of the down trodden and took up the cause of the cooperative movement in the capital, he added.
In a letter to Ms Dikshit, Mr Singh also had suggested that the proposed Metro Rail station near Qutub Minar should be named after Mr Brahm Prakash apart from opening a new ITI at Mehrauli in South Delhi to perpetuate his memory.
