Haryana Olympic Association tussle reaches High Court
Chandigarh, June 16 (UNI) The ongoing tussle for the control of Haryana Olympic Association (HOA) between the group led by Congress MP Naveen Jindal and the ousted group of former MLA Abhey Singh Chautala has reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Hanuman Singh Bhadu joint secretary-cum-director under Chautala-controlled HOA has filed a petition in the court, praying for anticipatory bail in connection with a case registered against him on June 5. It has been alleged that Mr Bhadu took away the Hoi's records of from its office at Olympic Bhavan, Panchkula on the morning of May 6.
The case was registered on the complaint of Surender Singh Dangi, who was elected as joint secretary in Jindal-controlled HOA.
The counsel for Mr Bhadu alleged that the case against the petitioner was false and frivolous and has its origin in the tussle for the control of HOA. The Congress regime led by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the petitioner alleged, had been conspiring to take control of HOA and organised a special general meeting of some members, which elected Naveen Jindal as the president and senior police officer P V Rathee as the honorary secretary general.
The petitioner contended that this election itself was illegal as it did not fulfill the prescribed standards of presence.
The case against the petitioner was registered allegedly at the behest of Mr Rathee, who is additional director general of police, the counsel argued further while asking for stay on the arrest. His prayer for anticipatory bail was declined on June 12 by the additional district and sessions judge, Panchkula.
After the preliminary hearing the vacation bench of Justice Vinod Kumar Sharma, while staying the arrest of Mr Bhadu also issued notices to the Haryana government and Mr Rathee.
