Sale, submission of DU pre-admission forms ends

New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) The first phase of the admission process to the Delhi University (DU) came to an end today as the sale and submission of pre-admission forms for almost 43,000 undergraduate seats closed.

DU Student's Welfare Dean S K Vij told UNI that more than 1.32 lakh forms were sold since June 1 for the new academic session which will commence from July 15.

''The first phase of the admission process is complete... There was a heavy rush of probable candidates at all the 16 informations centres and colleges across the capital,'' he said.

Mr Vij said they had received more than 91,000 applications since the submission started and more than ten thousand forms were submitted on the last day today.

''We sold more than four thousand applications forms today that is a big number,'' he added.

Besides St Stephens and the Jesus and Mary College, all other DU colleges were accepting the centralised forms.

The first list of cut-off percentage of marks will be out by June 27, while the second list is expected by July 1 followed by the third list on July 5.

The application forms this year had been simplified and students could apply for as many colleges as they desired, unlike last year, when they could only opt for ten colleges and eight courses at a time.

This year the university had introduced pre-admission forms in the Optical Magnetic Readers format in which students would have to indicate their choices by darkening circles.

After screening the forms they would be sent to respective colleges.

Various students' organsations had also set up 'help desk' to assist the probable candidates.

Students wishing to apply through the sports quota would, however, have to apply directly to colleges and they will be provided counselling between June 25 and July 1.
