Rymbai elected new CLP leader in Meghalaya

Shillong, Jun 15 (UNI) The long drawn political turmoil in Meghalaya ended today with the special Congress Legislature Party (CLP) replacing beleaguered Chief Minister D.D.Lapang by his trusted political colleague J.D.Rymbai.

The CLP meeting which was held at Hotel Pine Wood here this evening in presence of Union Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, AICC observer in-charge of North East and Union Minister Oscar Fernandez, besides Congress legislators, unanimously elected Mr Rymbai, who is presently the state's Minister in-charge for Parliamentary Affairs, as the new CLP leader in the state.
