Prakash Mahajan becomes MNS chief organiser; lambasts Sushma
Mumbai, June 15 (UNI) Younger brother of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, Prakash Mahajan, who was today appointed the chief organiser of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), came down heavily on the BJP leader Sushma Swaraj for describing Rahul's drug incident as ''the Mahajan family matter''.
''Being a mother, Sushma should have realised the feelings of my 'bhabhi' (sister-in-law) and should have at least visited Rahul when he was undergoing medical treatment in the hospital,'' said the grey-haired Mr Mahajan, not mincing any words against her.
When asked about Pravin Mahajan's statement that Rahul was the victim of bad company, Mr Mahajan countered that in which bad company Pravin was that he had killed their elder brother, who raised them after their father's demise.
''Rahul is innocent and is the victim of the political conspiracy and we will try to save him,'' he added.
Earlier in the day, Mr Mahajan was appointed the chief organiser of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), the political party launched by Raj Thackeray who is the nephew of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray.
Announcing this, at MIG Club in suburban Bandra, a stone's throw away from Mr Thackeray's residence, Raj said: ''Prakash met me in January. After talking to him, I realised that he has the potential.'' Asked whether Mr Mahajan was included to carry on the legacy of Pramod, he replied in the negative.
''If the elder brother (Pramod) was in the BJP, the younger could join any other political outfit,'' Mr Prakash Mahajan later said and cited the instance of Acharya Kriplani and his wife Sucheta, who were in two different political parties.
