NSCNs factions to observe ceasefire in Sumi inhabited areas

Kohima, June 15 (UNI) In a milestone towards bringing the warring NSCN sections together, both the rival factions of the Naga insurgent outfit have signed an agreement of ceasefire in the Sumi dominated areas of the state to ensure peace.

The historic declaration was made yesterday following meeting initiated by the Sumi Hoho at Zunheboto town. The resolution declared that Sumi Hoho, the apex body of the Sumi tribe, will expedite peace process between the factions and that hence forth there will be no clashes in Sumi areas. Whichever faction starts conflicts either by violence or intimidation in the Sumi area will be expelled from Sumi land and the Sumis will withdraw support to that particular faction.

Both the sides resolved to adhere to the declaration.

While, the NSCN-IM side was represented by Kilonser Shikato Chishi Swu, younger brother of NSCN-IM Chairman Isak Chishi Swu, other leaders, including Tatars (MP), the NSCN (K) was represented by ''Brig'' Niki Sumi, ''Commander'' of the area, ''Col'' Aheto and its spokesman Isak Sumi.
