Bangalore, June 15 (UNI) The BJP in Karnataka today clarified that its ruling coalition partner Janata Dal (Secular) neither pressurised it to accept its line on the controversial Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project issue nor threatened to destabilise the four-month-old government.

Talking to newspersons here, Party state General Secretary and spokesperson S Suresh Kumar said ''The JD (S)-BSP government came to power with a strong commitment to work for the betterment of the state and it will complete its 40-month term. Mr Kumaraswamy will continue to be the Chief Minister during the first half and Mr Yediyurappa will take over the reins during the remaining 20 months.'' He denied that the JD (S) was trying to destabilise the government.

Asked about Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy statement yesterday that he was not sure whether he would continue as the Chief Minister in view of the recent political developments in the state, he said ''I read this report in newspapers. We don't know what the Chief Minister actually said or under what context he spoke about this matter. There is no problem between the coalition partners and everything is fine,'' he added.

On why Former Prime Minister and JD (S) supremo H D Deve Gowda went to hold talks on the tricky BMIC issue with BJP President Rajnath Singh, instead of party leaders in the state, he said ''It dosen's matter where or with whom one talks. Mr Gowda's talks with the BJP President will bring something good for the whole state.'' Asked about the controversial BMIC project, the spokesman said the BJP Legislature Party meeting, to be held on June 19, would discuss the issue threadbare and take a decision.
