New units in Suratgarh, Kota thermal power stations
Jaipur, June 15 (UNI) The Suratgarh and Kota super thermal power stations will soon have one new unit each.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) will set up the 250 MW unit in Suratgarh while the Kota unit will be of 195 MW.
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam's chairman and managing director N S Choudhary said expansion plans are on the anvil for Suratgarh and Kota super thermal power stations.
Suratgarh station currently generates 1,250 MW of power while the new unit will generate another 250 MW.
The Kota Super Thermal Power station generates 1,045 MW presently while the new unit will add another 195 MW.
Mr Choudhary said apart from the equipment and machines, BHEL will also provide the designing and engineering and experiments of the new units.
The new unit at Suratgarh will be built at a cost of Rs 448 crore while new unit at Kota will be built for Rs 399 crore.
BHEL has been given a time frame of 28 months for commissioning of the unit six of Suratgarh power station while it has set 29 months for commissioning for the unit seven of Kota super thermal power station.
