Monsoon to revive by June 19

Hyderabad, June 15 : The southwest monsoon continued to be weak over the southern Peninsula and east India, according to the Metereological Department.

The present meteorological conditions suggest that the monsoon is likely to revive soon over extreme south Peninsula by June 19.

The report said an upper air system still persisted over Uttaranchal extending upto mid-tropospheric levels and moving away eastwards. The report also pointed out weak offshore trough extending from Karnataka to Kerala coast.

According to forecast valid for the next 72 hours, rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places over Rayalaseema and dry weather over the rest of the region.

The southwest monsoon had been active over Rayalaseema. Isolated rain occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The rainfall recorded in cm at different regions were Kurnool five, Arogyavaram four, Nandyal and Nellore three , Anantapur and Allagadda (Kurnool dist) two and Puttur (Chittoor district) one.

Maximum temperatures changed little and were above normal at one or two places over Telangana yesterday. The highest maximum temperature of 41 degree Celsius was recorded at Hanamakonda, Medak and Ramagudam.

Forecast and Farmers' weather bulletin valid until the morning of June 16, 2006: light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rains or thundershowers are likely to occur over Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Outlook for subsequent two days has no large change.

Forecast for Hyderabad City and neighbourhood valid until tomorrow morning: Rains or thundershowers are likely in some parts of Hyderabad city.
