LDF Govt. in Kerala to focus on setting up new industrial clusters
Kochi, June 15 (UNI) Projecting an industries-friendly stance, Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Karim today said the LDF Government will focus on setting up new industrial clusters and parks in the state.
Drlibering the presidential address at the FACT-MKK Nayar Memorial Productivity Awards distribution function here this evening,Mr Karim said nearly 600 acres of land was occupied by industries lying closed in the state.
The government would utilise this land to set up new industrial clusters, he said.
To promote a professional approach among bureaucrats and policy makers, the government would also send senior officers to the Indian Institutes of Management for training, Mr Karim added.
Creating new employment opportunities for the state's youth would be the primary goal of the LDF Government's industrialisation initiatives, he added.
Later, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan gave away the Productivity Council Awards to eight companies in the large, medium and small sectors and for service organisations.
While Kochi Refineries Ltd. bagged the best productivity performance award in the large category, AVT Natural Products Ltd.
bagged it in the medium category and Classic Paints in the small industries category.
Popular Vehicles and Services Ltd. bagged the best award for service organisations.
