Haryana government clears appointment of 150 doctors
Chandigarh, June 15 (UNI) In its efforts to fill up vacant posts in the health department, the Haryana government has cleared the appointment of 150 doctors and 112 dentists and they are expected to join their duties.
The government also cleared the setting-up of 40 First Referral Units as a part of its drive to provide improved health services to the people.
This was revealed in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to review the functioning of the Health Department, here today.
Financeal Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Health, Mrs Urvashi Gulati while addressing the meeting said that Janani Suvidha Yojana would soon be implemented to provide financial assistance at the time of delivery to those living Below Poverty Line (BPL) in urban slums. Under this scheme, a financial assistance of Rs 500 would be given in case of delivery at home, but an increased assistance of Rs 600 would be given for getting the delivery conducted at a health centre.
The scheme would be implemented jointly by the Health department and through Non-Government Organisations (NGOs).
Ms Gulati said Rs 502 crore had been made to provide improved health services during the current financial year and on an average, the per capita expenditure on health services would be Rs 243.47 during the same period.
An additional sum of Rs five crore has been provided by the European Commission to the state Health Department under sector reform project.
