Flood situation improves at Dharmanagar, deteriorates at Kailashahar
Agartala, Jun 15 (UNI) The flood situation at Kailashahar in North Tripura District deteriorated today while the toll in the current rains in the State rose to ten.
Official sources said while two people, including a child, drowned after they were swept away by the water of the surging river, while one person was killed and four were injured in lightning in different places of the state.
However, the flood situation in Dharmanagar area, also in North Tripura, had improved today with respite in rain, they said.
Over 6,000 people had taken shelter in 19 relief camps in Dharmanagar sub-division, the sources said.
Meanwhile, supply of essential commodities, including petrol, diesel, kerosene and cooking gas, was affected in Tripura because of disruption in railway and road services due to flood and landslides on the National Highway No 44 in Meghalaya and Tripura.
Mizoram, Tripura, the Barak Valley of Asom and parts of Manipur remained cut-off from the rest of the country by roads for the second day today following landslides on the National Highway No 44 at Sonapur in Meghalaya's Jaintia Hills.
