The sources, however, said that the flood situation in Dharmanagar area, also in North Tripura, had improved today with respite in rain.

They said over 6,000 people had taken shelter in 19 relief camps in Dharmanagar sub-division.

Meanwhile, supply of essential commodities, including petrol, diesel, kerosene and cooking gas, was affected in Tripura because of disruption railway and road services due to flood and landslides on the National Highway No 44 in Meghalay and Tripura.

Mizoram, Tripura, Barak Valley of Assam and parts of Manipur remained cut-off from the rest of the country by roads for the second day today following landslides on the National Highway No 44 at Sonapur in Meghalaya's Jaintia Hills.
