DMK for a negotiated settlement of Lankan issue : Karunanidhi
Chennai, June 15 (UNI) The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was for a negotiated settlement to the Lankan ethnic issue and no ''short cuts'' should be applied, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said today.
In a statement here, Mr Karunanidhi, who is also DMK chief, said the party believed in approaching the issue in consonance with the Centre and with the help of like minded parties in the state.
He said the state government was more than willing to provide all facilities to Tamils refugees, who were arriving in the state.
But at the same time, the DMK wanted that as a result of the conflict in the island, there should be no violence either in Sri Lanka or in the state, he said.
Accusing a private television channel of launching a ''disinformation'' campaign against the DMK, he said its attempt to portray the DMK as ''anti-Tamil'' would not succeed.
