Delhi Govt declares holiday on Guru Arjan Dev's martyrdom day
New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) Delhi government has declared a public holiday tomorrow on the occasion of 400th martyrdom anniversary of the fifth Sikh Guru Arjan Dev.
All government offices, local and autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings under the state government would remain closed, a statement said today.
Various Sikh religious bodies had urged Delhi and Central governments to declared a holiday on the day so as to facilitate holding of programmes and functions to mark the occasion.
Guru Arjan Dev stood for unity, love and harmony, and laid down his life for the betterment of the society.
