DAP production misses April target by 1.04 lakh tonnes

New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) The estimated production of fertilisers in the country in April this year was 14.41 lakh metric tonnes of urea and 3.12 lakh metric tonnes of DAP against the target of 14.23 lakh metric tonnes and 4.16 lakh tonnes respectively.

Urea production duirng the month would have been higher but for the continued closure of DIL Kanpur, unscheduled shutdown in Kalol and Phulpur-II units of IFFCO, low production in Madras Fertiliser Ltd,. Chennai and at the plants at Babrala and Shahjahanpur because of equipment breakdown and annual turnarounds.

The overall supply of urea and other decontrolled fertilisers in the States was satisfactory.

ABOUT 14.68 lakh metric tonnes of urea was dispatched to the States in April this year.

As regards the decontrolled fertilisers, the availability DAP and MOP was around 9.86 lakh metric tonnes and 12.14 lakh metric tonnes, respectively, which was adequate to meet the demands of the States.

In April, 2.79 lakh metric tonnes of urea, 0.59 lakh metric tonnes of DAP and 0.43 lakh metric tonnes of MOP was imported in the country, an official release here said.
