CTCRI to launch scheme to empower rural women

Thiruvananthapuram, June 15 (UNI) The Bank of India, in association with the Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI), here will launch tomorrow a scheme focussing empowerment of women in rural areas through entrepreneurial developments.

Named 'Star Agrind Cassava Project,' it is aimed at promoting cultivation of tuber crops, mainly tapioca, and training rural women in the manufacture of various types of food products from tapioca.

The CTCRI will provide techbnical support in the implementation of the scheme, according to a CTCRI press release.

Bank Of India Chairman and Managing Director M Balachandran will launch the scheme.
