Bhujodi craftsman named for Shilp Guru Award
Bhuj, June 15 (UNI) Premji Velji Vankar of Bhujodi village will be honoured with the Shilp Guru Award for master craftpersons, the highest in handicrafts, for year 2005.
The award is given to five craftsmen in the country every year by the Textiles Ministry.
Vankar, an expert in hand woven famous Kutchi woollen shawls, is the second craftsman from Gujarat to get this award.
The award includes a gold coin, a citation and Rs 7.5 lakh in cash.
The Shilp Guru Award was introduced in 2002 on the occasion of'Golden Jubilee Year of Handicrafts Resurgence in India'.
