Azad announces 15 crore for repair of Srinagar roads

Srinagar, June 15 : Expressing serious concern over the bad condition of various roads in the summer capital, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today announced a sum of Rs 15 crore for undertaking immediate repairs.

Mr Azad said that Rs 50 lakhs should be placed at the disposal of each MLA of the city to identify and prioritise the roads requiring urgent upgradation and improvement in their respective constituencies.

A sum of Rs nine crore would be spent by the government agencies on urgent roads upgradation and repair works.

The Chief Minister also observed that the streetlights in the city are not functioning properly and required urgent attention.

He directed that Rs one crore should be kept for making the streetlights system functional and its maintenance.

He also directed for making early repairs to footpaths on important roads including Boulevard. Lal Chowk and Dal Gate.
