Youth who bid self-immolation against 'Fanaa' fighting for life
Jamnagar, June 14 (UNI) The condition of 20-year-old Pravin Joshi, who tried to immolate himself on Sunday in protest against the screening of Aamir Khan starrer 'Fanaa', was stated to be serious.
Pravin is under direct supervision of Guru Govind Singh Hospital's Burns and Plastic surgery ward head Dr Ashutosh Soni and Anesthesia ward head Dr Kumar.
He is critical and currently on ventilator because of breathing problems.
Yesterday a team of doctors from an Ahmedabad hospital were rushed to Jamnagar to assist the local doctors in treating Pravin.
A resident of the port town of Porabandar, Pravin had gone to see the film in Amber Cinema, which was the only theatre in Gujarat to have defied the boycott of the Aamir film, called by cinema owners' associations against the actor's remarks in support of rehabilitation of Narmada dam oustees.
He however, attempted self-immolation during the intermission. He was taken to the Civil hospital.
Local BJP leaders held demonstration against Aamir and the cinema owners. The cinema house later withdrew the screening of the film, on ''humanitarian grounds''.
