Tunisia lead 1-0 in opener against Saudis
MUNICH, June 14 (Reuters) Tunisia led Saudi Arabia 1-0 after the first half of their World Cup Group H opening game today taking a deserved lead after dominating in a match marked more by unforced errors than highlights.
Ziad Jaziri scored in the 23rd minute, volleying a loose ball after a freekick rebounded from Saudi defenders Redha Tukar and Hamad Al Montashari.
The Saudis only had one clear chance in the 37th minute with a free kick taken by Tukar awarded after Tunisia's Karim Hagui fouled Nawat Al Temyat and got a yellow card.
Tunisia are trying for a victory after failing to win eight times in a row since 1978, when they became the first African nation to win a World Cup finals match.
