Mercury stays below normal for second consecutive day
New Delhi, June 14 (UNI) A cloud of dust and haze today continued to keep the mercury to below normal levels for the second consecutive day, bringing some relief from the heat wave of last week.
Though the maximum temperature rose to 39.1 Degree Celsius today, from 37.3 Degree C yesterday, it was still one degree below normal.
A cloud of dust and haze has been enveloping the skyline since yesterday. Which brought the mercury down by four degree Celsius, from 41.3 Degree C on Monday, to 37.3 degree C yesterday, nearly three degrees below normal.
The cloudy sky is likely to prevail for the next two to three days with the weather office predicting a partly cloudy sky accompanied by dust and haze and thunderstorms accompanied with squall in some areas in the next 24 hours.
The weatherman have forecast a maximum temperature of 40 Degree C tomorrow. The weather office has also predicted light showers for Friday and Saturday as also a drop in mercury to 38 Degree C on Saturday.
The drop in mercury in the capital since Monday is a tremendous relief for people of Delhi, considering that the capital has been witnessing a rising trend in mercury since last Monday.
From nearly 30 Degree C over the last weekend, mercury rose to 38.3 Degree C last Monday, and subsequently to 40 Degree C on Tuesday, to 40.4 Degree C on Wednesday, 41.4 Degree C on Thursday, to 42.8 degree C on Friday and further to 43.6 Degree C on Sunday.
