India strike two early blows to press for a victory against Windies
St Lucia, Jun 14 (UNI) India claimed two early wickets on the fifth day morning to press for a victory in the second Test against the West Indies here today.
After the fourth day's disappointment when not a single ball was bowled due to wet conditions, play started half an hour ahead of schedule today and the visitors made the most of the early start and took the wickets of Daren Ganga and Ramnaresh Sarwan in the first 30 minutes of play.
Skipper Rahul Dravid started with spin from both the ends and Ganga was foxed by a beauty from Anil Kumble. The West Indian opener couldn't read a googly from Kumble and left the ball alone, only to see the ball rock the top of his stumps. Ganga was out for 26.
Dravid then replaced Sehwag with Munaf Patel to test the new batsmen Ramnaresh Sarwan.
Sarwan was edgy in his brief stay and survived a couple of big shouts from Kumble and a caught behind appeal from Patel.
Patel produced a beauty of a delivery that after pitching on the off stump swung away a bit to carry a thin edge to keeper Dhoni.
Sarwan departed for one and West Indies were 52 for three at that stage.
India will get atleast 98 overs if weather stays good.
