Azad meets coalition leaders ahead of election to RS seat

Srinagar, June 14 (UNI) The coalition partners in Jammu and Kashmir met here today to chalk out a joint strategy for tomorrow's election to the Rajya Sabha seat from the state.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad presided over the meeting attended by legislators of the Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Peoples Democratic forum (PDF), the National Panthers Party and the CPI(M).

Mr Azad briefed the coalition partners about the Srinagar round-table conference.

The meeting also discussed election to the Rajya Sabha seat from Jammu and Kashmir for which polling would be held tomorrow.

Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Transport Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, Youth Services and Sports Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, who is also the state Congress President, Panthers Party's Harshdev Singh, CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and Power Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora also spoke at the meeting.

Union Water Resources Minister Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz also attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, PDP patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has asked the party legislators to strictly adhere to the coalition ethics so that the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) was fully implemented.

He also asked them to vote for coalition candidate (senior Congress leader Choudhary Mohammad Aslam) in tomorrow's election to the Rajya Sabha seat from Jammu and Kashmir.
