Agnelli heir says Juve behaved "reprehensibly"

TURIN, June 14 (Reuters) Fiat's heir, whose family controls Juventus said today the Italian soccer champions had behaved reprehensibly in a scandal that could see it thrown out of Serie A.

John Elkann, vice chairman of the Agnelli family holding company Ifil put forward a new nine-member board for the club.

''Today we're turning the page on what we have learned in the last few weeks, which represents a sad chapter,'' said Elkann, grandson of the late Gianni Agnelli who helped build both Fiat and Juve into powerhouses.

''There has been some reprehensible behaviour,'' he told a news conference in Turin, home town of both the car maker and the soccer team.

Juventus is at the heart of the worst scandal to hit Italian football for 20 years and could be thrown out of Serie A if accusations that its top officials tried to influence the selection of referees for key league matches are proved.
